NEWS UPDATE - JULY 2009 -

Nick Smith - I was sorry to hear of the death of Nick Smith from Norfolk; Nick had only just joined us and was willing to get involved and active, despite his having been ill for a long period (which I was not aware of). Nick will be remembered as a loyal Folk-Comrade in our Einheriar Rite, with others who have been with us in the past, and the Fallen Heroes of our Folk.

Thanks - I would like to thank all of our WF-EM Activists and Supporters who have worked so hard over the 11 years of our existance as a Folkish Movement. Today we are beginning to see the fruits of our work, with growing enquiries and new subscribers. There are signs of discontent in England, and the cracks are beginning to appear. We have a  long and hard struggle ahead and the time is coming when we shall play an even greater role in the Woden Destiny. Keep up the good work!

Complacency - In some areas of England the recession does not seem to be hitting very hard; or at least it would seem that way on the surface. Camplacency must not set in over this, for the underlying trend is still sharply downward, though the ruling powers try to hide this from us. It is not just the economy we should look at but the overall destruction of our people and our land.

Midsummer Folk-Moot - This year we had a good turnout to the White Horse Stone Folk-Moot, and an ever greater turnout to a localised Folk-Moot held in the Midlands area which was a closed moot open to local supporters and some other known activists.

2010 - During the year 2010 I am going to try a new approach to our local WF Hearths and to our activists working in their own areas. I have plans to make short visits to certain areas in order to get to know people who as yet have not been able to travel to our Folk-Moots, and also to help to get local groups up and going. Another area that I shall cover is ritual work and how to set up rites etc.

The one thing that we pride ourselves in WF is that we are a Folkish Brotherhood and that we have always worked together as a team. This has meant that we have had no need for any form of official structure with "positions" which can be abused. We have a Folk-Warder who does the national organising and leadership, a Folk-Witan that advises the Folk-Warder, and local Hearth Warders that organise and lead local groups. These local groups, and Lone-Wolf Activists are the backbone of our Movement.

But most of our early work was confined to the South of England and East Anglia, whereas now our strength is growing in many other areas. This means that there are many people out there who perhaps cannot get to our Folk-Moots due to distance. This is the reason that I intend to get out to our groups and activists to help them to get involved at a greater level.

This step should help to increase our growth; it will also allow me to have an opportunity to get to know more of our activists and supporters. I will outline these plans at a later stage.

Growing support - There is a growing sense of discontent in this land, and this is showing in a growing number of enquiries and also new recruits into our Movement. We have always grown slowly and organically, but we have had a definite upsurge over the last couple of months or so. For an openly Folkish Movement this is really a good sign.

Local Contacts - On the "Local Contacts" page you will see a full update of WF Hearths, Gemoots and Local Contact Numbers. If anyone else wishes to put their contact number on this page please let me know.
